REFLECTION 2

E-portfolio

In reflection 2, the lecturer gave brief information on how to create e-portfolio. she also asked on of the students to demonstrate to the whole class, from A-Z on how to create it. Starting from creating a new email (Gmail,Yahoo), later on, go to the google engine and search for blogger.com. From that, the students need to sign up and follow simple instructions.

E-portfolio or electronic portfolio is the collection of information that student have and share during their learning journey. In this subject, which is related to the usage of computer and technology, our instructor encourages us to invent an e-portfolio for every group. There, we have to share and post every assignment, information and work that has been assigned to us. By the end of this semester, our works should be a set of learning collection and everyone could view our portfolio.

E- portfolio is a new way of learning, despite traditional learning is still in the right track, due to the expansion of computer and technology, it education and learning become easier and sophisticated. It is the new teaching methods and strategies. It also taught the students to be more innovative and our instructor can check students’ work progression through e-portfolio.

There is a lot of positive values about the portfolio. The most functional advantage is student’s works and assignment can be scanned and be saved. In addition, the instructor can check their progress easily. Using e-portfolio is more appealing because the student can put up some good music, pictures, videos or any kind of learning-based product to make their e-portfolio looking more interesting and fresh.

In addition, this learning process can enhance student’s creativity as well as technology skills. After the editing and compiling, student can post into the e-portfolio and other classmates can view their work. This can encourage the computer skill of the students to be more computer savvy. Our instructor has already set up what should be inserted inside our e-portfolio. It should include a theme, student’s profile, table of content, reflection of every week’s lesson, assignment’s reflection as well as our assignments.

Thus, e-portfolio is very functional in showing the student’s progression of their learning and collection of works. It is very practical and effective especially for the computer savvy. The work has become quick and students could easily access to their e-portfolio. Furthermore, it encourages technology skills.
